Carly Mayes, ABD

Carly is a PhD candidate in political science at Rice University. Her research investigates the way gender stereotypes affect candidate evaluation in US elections.
Following the completion of her first masters degree in Political Science from Oklahoma State University in 2011, Carly moved to Houston, TX to pursue a career in academic support services in higher education.
Working first as an academic advisor and retention specialist at the University of Houston, Carly moved to Lone Star College – Kingwood, where she eventually taught as a full-time instructor before returning to school to pursue her PhD.
